What is Commercial Tinting?
Lower your building’s energy costs and make your tenants and employees safer, more comfortable and more productive!
Key reasons to use commercial window tinting in offices, hotels, restaurants, apartments and other businesses in the Bay Area Solar Control and Energy Savings. Year around temperature control means lower maintenance costs. These solar control benefits create a more comfortable environment for your building’s tenants and/or employees and lower the energy bills.
Added safety and security. Whether by accident or natural disaster, commercial security window film keeps shattered glass together. In case of illegal entry, the tensile strength of the film resists tears and breakage, thus impeding the actions of the vandal or intruder. Tagging and graffiti damage is easily undone by replacing the protective film.
Affordable privacy and decorative graphics. Decorative and privacy window film provides privacy with style in your office, apartments, hotels, restaurants or other commercial buildings. Tired vertical surfaces (e.g. doors and partitions) can look like new. Logos and informative graphics can be die-cut with stunning results.
What Is Window Film?
Window film is a low-cost, high-return energy conservation measure made of micro-thin layers of film combined with high performance coatings that bond to the glass surface. Film can be clear, colored, or patterned to blend with various design schemes. Various thicknesses are available for solar, safety, or security applications.
How Does Window Film Work?
Solar radiation from the sun is divided into three components: visible light we can see, and infrared and ultraviolet rays which we can only feel. As solar radiation strikes a piece of glass, window film blocks harmful UV rays and regulates the levels of heat and light passing through the glass. The amount of heat and light rejected is all dependent on the type of window film selected.
Why Do I Need Window Film On My Windows?
Adding window film upgrades your existing windows by improving energy efficiency, cutting glare, and reducing damage to furnishings, carpets and draperies due to fading.
Is Window Tinting Necessary If I Have Drapes Or Blinds On My Windows?
Absolutely! The sun will damage your window treatments and you won’t be able to keep your window coverings open without having all the harmful rays entering through the glass.
Will Window Film Darken The Interior of My Building Or Distort Occupants’ Views?
No. It will not darken the interior of a room. Instead, window film softens the light and, since you can leave your window coverings open, film allows more light to come in. Professionally installed window films are virtually undetectable and are extremely optically clear after the installation and curing period. Most users will agree that visual acuity is often increased with window film because glare is reduced, greatly reducing eyestrain.
How does the installation of energy-saving window film affect the performance of my building’s HVAC system?
According to U.S. Department of Energy statistics, solar heat gain through windows is responsible for about one third of a building’s cooling costs. Energy-saving window film that can reduce solar heat gain by 75% or more can significantly reduce the run time of air-conditioning systems or allow them to operate at lower load conditions. This can reduce cooling costs in commercial buildings by as much as 30%, lengthen HVAC equipment life, lower maintenance costs for air-conditioning systems, and allow for replacement of cooling equipment with smaller, less expensive equipment.
What Level Of Energy Savings Can I Expect With Window Film?
Solar control films improve the insulating properties of windows – offering increased cooling season savings and the added advantage of heating season savings.
The energy savings depend on many factors, such as the existing type of glass, existence of overhangs, your location (climate), and energy rates in your area. However, for most buildings, high-performance window films can reduce energy costs from 5 to 15%.
Will Film Turn Purple Over A Period Of Time?
No. Most films today have no dyes in them so there is no chance of the film fading or discoloring over time.
Can You Apply Film To Dual Pane Windows?
Yes. We carry a complete line of film that is recommended by the manufacturer to be used on dual pane windows. We will provide you with a glass-breakage warranty that will cover the glass on the dual pane unit. The chances of anything like this happening are very minimal.
Can I Clean My Window Film?
Window film is very durable and has a scratch-resistant coating to protect it. You can clean window film using any non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth or squeegee.
Do I Have To Choose A Silver Reflective Film To Reduce Heat?
Although reflective window film will provide the highest heat reductions, there are films that use metals such as titanium, which are significantly less reflective. We also carry non-reflective films that will give you the heat rejections while still lowering your energy bills.
Is Window Film Applied To The Inside Or Outside Of The Window?
Window film is almost always applied to the inside of the window. We do carry exterior window films that can be applied to the outside of the glass if this is necessary. Of course, this film comes with the full warranty we provide on all our products.
